American Folk Rug

Late 19th - early 20th c. 'Lamb's tongue' technique. Layered scallops of black and charcoal, with natural ecru, citrine, and canary embroidery. Small central spray of flowers. Lovely hand stitching throughout, although much abraded. Wool suiting with a linen back backing. Best decoratively, or in low traffic.
