Scandinavian Wall Tapestry 6'5" x 7'9"

c. 1945-1965, unattributed. Large Swedish tapestry with abstract orchard field. Repeating trees with scattered crosses and dotted constellations throughout - a folk vocabulary rendered with mid-century order. Natural smoke gray linen ground with brown, berry, rhubarb, and saffron tones. Wool weft on linen warp, looser weave. Very thin with supple handle. Woven to size, with integrated folded and hand-hemmed bands. Original metal hanging loops across the upper edge. Most likely part of the Swedish studio weaving movement of the mid-20th century, when traditional rölakan techniques were adapted into lighter textile works. Carefully kept in excellent condition.
