Polish Tapestry Rug
Early 1900's Poland, design attributed to Wanda Kossecka (1887-1955). Traditional decorative workshop kilim. Wildflower field with pliant, ordered blooms set atop radiant melange gold ground. Clear palette of lavender, fuchsia, sumo, and leaf. Single ply hand-spun wool tapestry weave on a waxed linen warp. Sturdy and dense - uncompromised near perfect surface condition. Some light fraying along fringe. Suitable for the floor, though equally, or maybe more at home on the wall.
This textile is available and currently being exhibited in the show FANCY & FLOURISH at the Jaqueline Sullivan Gallery in Tribeca, NY. Please email zora@
