Early 1800's Flying Geese Quilt - 80" x 95"
$2,500
c. 1800-1810, United States. Precise and exactly Flying Geese quilt pattern. Eight rows of early cotton prints arranged in V formation. Pieced rows alternate with bands of caramel toned glazed floral chintz. Many exceptional and special calico printed cottons. Bound with a tiny woven tape - tan and green stripes. The back is plain white woven cotton. This quilt has been very well kept, only 2 areas of broken chintz (see images). A remarkable amount of careful work, in both the piecing and the quilting. Dense, considered, and mesmerizing.
