Tibetan Checkerboard Rug

c. 1900, Himalayan Mountains, Tibet. A rare "Khaden" sleeping or sitting rug. Traditional design - calm field of alternating rose and sky 1" squares. Natural lac and indigo dyes. Soft Tibetan highland wool on cotton warp woven in a traditional loop cut pile. Good structural integrity, some expected wear and fading.
