Jacquard Coverlet c. 1851

Signed by weaver noting location and date “1851 CHREFLER- OHIO.” Reverse rosette palm pattern. Luminous finely homespun wool with garden plant dyes. True indigo, rose pink, and warm gold pictorial bands on natural ecru ground. Hand rolled hem. Heavily faded and darned throughout - very fragile, would do best as wall hanging.
