Antique Hooked Rug - 1'9" x 3'

c. 1850-1920, New England, United States. Found in Maine. Ocean scene of coniferous island and coastline. Natural tones of pine, evergreen, slate, sky, and sea. Nice perspective, scale and depth in the rendering - made by a skilled hooker. Very finely crafted with slender wool remnants on burlap ground. Pliant and soft. 2-3 small areas of loss throughout surface. Piece has been re-bound with a nice black twill tape. Would live well on a wall (inquire for display) on the wall or floor in medium to low traffic.
